The end of 2009

Well, here we are already at the end of another busy year of learning.
We have posted our final piece of work which is our photostories. We planned, scripted, illustrated, photographed and narrated these during Term 4. We hope you enjoy our storytelling.
Thanks to all the families and people that have looked at our blog and shared our learning this year and especially to those that have made comments. We love getting feedback about what we have been doing in class.
Best wishes to all for a safe and happy holiday season.

Maths

During Maths this term some of the children have been using Kidspiration to demonstrate different ways of using numbers to solve a problem using addition and subtraction. We each picked a number to go in the middle and had to make at least 10 problems that would equal that number. We also learnt how to add pictures, change colours and shapes. We hope you enjoy looking at our work.

On Monday I went along to watch some of the Room 6 children playing touch rugby after school. It was a lovely afternoon and it was great to see the keen sports children out there playing well and playing fair.
Well done everyone.

Which is the biggest?

This morning during maths Harry, Blake and Connor worked as a team to build a very long ladder on a fire truck. Harry wondered how tall it was and would it be taller than Mr O'Reilly. He wrote an invitation to Mr O'Reilly to come to our class to find out.

The tower was very tall indeed. Blake even needed to stand on a chair on the maths shelf to stretch the ladder out fully and Yes it was taller than Mr O'Reilly.
Well done boys!

What a week!

This last week was packed with activities. As well as going swimming on Tuesday and Thursday we had our Athletics day on Wednesday and had to fit in some practices for the presentation of our Learning Celebration to the whole school. Everyone spoke very well, sang beautifully and coped with the microphone glitches that always seem to happen.

As well as that we found time for a science experiement investigating with ice cubes and finding out if sprinkling other substances on top made them melt faster or differently.

Of course we also read, wrote, did maths and finished our mosaics. it is our last week of swimming this week so thank you to all those parents that have been able to come along and support us.

Athletics Day

We all had a great afternoon demonstrating all the athletics skills we had been learning. It was great to have some many parents, grandparents and other family members along to watch. We really appreciate your support and hope you enjoyed the afternoon too.

The School Fair

Wow! What a great day we had. Thank you to all the parents and families that helped to make our fair such a huge success. This is a picture of the jars that Room 6 and 7 collected and some of the Mums filled and decorated for our Jar Lucky Dip. It was good fun running the stall and we were very busy all morning. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and I am looking forward to seeing what wonderful things we are able to do at school with the money we raised.

Our School Fair

We are having our school fair this Saturday from 11am-2pm.
Many children from year 1 through to year 6 have been painting in their lunch times over the past month to sell their magnificent art at the fair. The art will all be sold for $10 each piece and the parents who are buying their childs could let their teacher know and we will put a sold ticket on it while it is on display. For those parents not going to the fair they can also order their child’s painting and we will still display it at the fair with a sold ticket on it.
Come and enjoy all the food, goods and activities this Saturday.

Wow! It's Term 4

We are nearly at the end of the second week of the term already. I can't believe how fast it is going.

These are some of the different activities that have kept us busy so far:

cricket coaching
athletics practice
swimming at Aquaym
trip to Science Alive
tennis lessons
decorating cake boxes
reading
writing
maths - learning about telling the time
learning to use kidspiration on the computers
practising for our Learning Celebration
printing
beginning our new PAI learning journey about change and water
and making mosaic pictures in art.

We are looking forward to the school fair on the 31st of October and Athletics day in week 4.

Below are some photos from swimming and we will post some more later on.

Ka Kite Winter poems

We wrote these poems to say goodbye to Winter and hello to Spring. We have been learning to use describing words to create a clear picture for the reader. If you click on the square button on the top right of the scribd screen it will make the image full screen.
