We braved the chill and grey skies and off we went to the Ecodepot.
Valerie the teacher met us and showed us some amazing things. We looked around and saw where the rubbish in the Red bins goes to and then we saw one of the blue trucks that takes all the smooshed up rubbish away to Kate Valley. Each of the blue trucks can hold the same weight of rubbish as 22 elephants and the 6 trucks take 12 loads each day. What a lot of rubbish!
We talked about the different ways that we can reduce the amount of rubbish in our Red bins at home.
Then we learnt about compost worms, earth worms and subterrainain worms and how they are different and how they can help us with our rubbish. Then we got to make our own worm farm with some Tiger worms. Some people didn't like digging for the worms but luckily we had some brave parents with us.
We had a really interesting morning and had a great time.
